Curriculum
The curriculum of our kindergarten is based on the “Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide 2017” by the Education Bureau, in order to achieve the principle of promoting comprehensive and balanced development in children covering five developmental objectives, namely ‘Moral Development,’ ‘Cognitive and Language Development,’ ‘Physical Development,’ ‘Emotional and Social Development’ and ‘Aesthetic Development’ ,with a view to actualising development in the five domains of ethics, intellect, physique, social skills and aesthetics respectively.
The five developmental objectives mentioned above are to be achieved through six learning areas, namely ‘Physical Fitness and Health,’ ‘Language,’ ‘Early Childhood Mathematics,’ ‘Nature and Living,’ ‘Self and Society’ and ‘Arts and Creativity.’
The kindergarten adopts real-life learning themes that are closely related to our children’s daily life experiences, cognitive abilities and interests to integrate the content of the six learning areas and provide children with comprehensive learning experiences. The curriculum includes three interrelated components, namely ‘Values and Attitudes,’ ‘Skills’ and ‘Knowledge.’ We attach great importance to fostering children’s interest in learning, cultivating positive values and attitudes, as well as strengthening self-confidence and self-care abilities.
Language Learning
Our kindergarten plans different learning activities from the four categories of listening, speaking, reading and writing to meet the stages of language development of children at different ages, so that children can gradually develop their language skills through activities and daily life. We also provide English and Mandarin activities to expose our children to the common languages of life from an early age.
In addition to the systematic planning of language activities in the curriculum, the kindergarten has planned a number of additional life-oriented language activities to enable children to take the initiative to learn in life, such as ‘The Story Garden,’ ‘little teachers,’ parent-child reading plan, online book sharing, letter writing activities, etc., so as to enhance children’s language skills.
Learning Modes
Our kindergarten adopts a variety of learning modes, such as storytelling, projects, experiments, visits, group learning, snack making activities, etc. Children enrich their learning experience through hands-on experience and exploration of their environment, so that fun activities enrich our children’s learning experience.
Learning Environment
Our kindergarten environment is designed with the ‘Father’s Garden’ as the theme, so that our children can feel the love of the Father in the midst of many things. Like tiny seeds they can grow with their peers in a loving environment. The classroom is equipped with different activity corners and the teachers regularly change the design according to the curriculum theme, and the children can play in the different areas according to their interests and learn independently. The activity corners include the Role Play area, book corner, learning corner, Art Corner, Exploration Corner, Music Corner, Toy Corner and so on.
Life Education
Our kindergarten focuses on life education to help children cultivate good morals from an early age, establish correct values and positive attitudes towards life, and enhance children’s resilience. The curriculum is divided into seven themes: ‘I am self-disciplined,’ ‘I give thanks,’ ‘I think positively,’ ‘I take action,’ ‘I try again,’ ‘I love others’ and ‘I am precious.’ Through the ‘Seven Seeds Work Book’ made by the school the activity extends home, and with the assistance of parents, together they cultivate the children’s morals.
